Crisis Response

U.S. Census 2000 logoU.S. Census Bureau

The Challenge – prepare to carry out the largest peacetime activity of the federal government, Census 2000.

Positive Communications Solution – The Census Bureau hired Positive Communications to prepare the agency’s senior executives in Washington, D.C. and around the country for an avalanche of media and public attention surrounding Census 2000. As part of the project, Christine Jahnke developed and wrote an extensive crisis communications manual that detailed the roles and responsibilities of hundreds of Census Bureau employees nationwide. All key spokespeople also received crisis training that included simulation drills designed to replicate real-life emergency situations.
